A Note from Aisha..

Originating from Nablus, a well-known community of craftspeople, Aisha Dweikat is determined to use her talent in promoting the Palestinian culture, while embedding herself in the global efforts towards sustainability and ethical production. Her interest in recycled products started at the Jenin Refugee Camp, where her mission was to design a set of games for the refugees, with the only materials available being scraps of fabric. Determined to produce products which preserve heritage while at the same time protecting the environment, she ventured into the production of environmentally friendly pieces in 2013. The main objective for Aisha was to raise awareness towards over-consumption behaviours and the negative impact on the environment. Aisha started introducing olive wood , Silver Jewelry and fabric in her designs and she and her team also fabric and leather material that would otherwise end up in landfills. Her products range from accessories to bags, cushion covers, table runners and a lot of other eco-friendly products. Aisha design is also a community project, as it provides opportunities for women to have access to a job and a stable income. All products of Aisha Design are handmade-stitched by refugees and low-income women artists in Palestine. In 2015, Aisha Design won Best Business Plan in a local competition. Aisha is also very active in her community and believes in the power of volunteerism, and strives to put aside x% of profit she makes to mobilise her community to plant trees. Her future plans include setting up a n online shop where she can promote her eco-friendly products worldwide.
